I was in the Warriors forum today and someone was proudly boasting he had his site at no one in Google for his local cleaning company. but he complained his description was rubbish.

The reason being he had forgotten to add metatags to his site. Without metatags Google does not know what you want to display. you must remember to spend a little time setting up metatags on any site where you have access.

Google and other search engines are always seeking to present the results you are searching for, which is great however you need to ensure that when you are researching keywords or looking to find on what page your site appears to log out of application such as Google+.

For many years I have had a top ranking site for Lose Weight USA usually in the top 3 out of 80M but if I am logged into Google+ I have positions 2,3,4 and I also show as position 10 for weight loss with 210M results...great for the ego but not for business.

Matters can be further complicated by using local searches say for the Philippines where of course by site would not appear in results.

Another useful tool to use when researching keywords is Google Trends, which follow news items in this case you can clearly seen that items about weight loss are growing in popularity

Not shown here are the links to the news items concerned, which one can follow in order to create extra content for your daily posts.

I have just reached a major milestone in my series of marketing your business videos, so far the videos have been concerned with showing you how to set up and configure your marketing system.

Todays video is entitled Daily Advertising Routine, and for the first time you are linking your system together. Notice I used the word "linking". This routine will be the start of building quality backlinks to the business you are building. the main readers of the information are search engines, that is why virtually all of my posts have no graphics, as search engines cannot read pictures but have to rely on the "alt" tag.

Yes some of the content may be read by humans as the same advert goes out in email format and the content is informative providing information about goods or services, if a reader is interested they have details of how to contact me and links to by business to serve themselves.

Now some people may have read that Google and other search engines do not like duplicate content, but we have not produced duplicates, it only takes as little as one word change in a page and it is unique, so by using different formats through our systems this content is unique.

Researching your market

I have been researching the Philippines seeking an angle in order to promote my business services locally. The problem seems to be twofold, the first is lack of money. Wages here are so low there is rarely anything left after meeting everyday cost. The other problem is the small number of Filipinos who own their own computer, only 11% according to the latest consumer finance survey. I actually find this a little surprising as the country is in the top 10 of facebook users. Perhaps they are making use of the many Internet cafe's and mobile phones.

The current cost of subscribing to my marketing and adverting services would use up 25% of an average persons income, so it is probably a non starter for a private individual.

I will therefor need to concentrate on the business market and provide some alternative product for home entrepreneurs.

One of the most important parts of advertising is to be easy to contact: Every single brochure, box, video,email, website, blog and all company literature should have full contact information including: website and email address, phone and fax numbers, and company address. It seems simple but is forgotten by most companies.

When advertising online also make sure to provide links to more information about you and your company, people tend to buy from people they trust.It has become human nature to distrust advertising. Claims need to be real and credible. Roy H. Williams, best-selling author of the "Wizard of Ads" says,

"Any claim made in your advertising which your customer does not perceive as the truth is a horrible waste of ad dollars."

Provide information about your products and services rather than a hard sell.Create ads that generate interest and make the customer want to contact you for more information.

Test your advertising: Large businesses have a greater margin to waste capital and resources without testing advertising. Small businesses do not have the luxury. Use coupons, codes, and specials to measure the headline, timing, and placement of your ad. Test only one item at a time and one medium. Testing can be as simple as asking every customer for several weeks how they heard of your business.

Marketing and advertising your business is a daily routine which will bring you success but many people find it difficult to organise themselves, or come up with a blank when faced with the prospect of providing content for a blog.

It is very important that you know about your business and understand what it is you are selling and to be honest this is where people fall short. We have all seen the ads "make $500 a day" but unless you know what you are selling you are never going to earn that much.

If you know your business you should be able to write a 300-500 word blog post in an hour or less, when content runs short do a search of magazines, journals, online articles etc connected with your business to restart your thought process.

I generally keep a copy of all my posts, which means I can go back and edit them to produce a new post.

Once you have your content then if you have a marketer dashboard you can use this so send out a blog and emails to your friends and subscribers as well as link posts to social networks and sites without having to leave your dashboard.

The more friends you have on the marketer dashboard, the greater exposure your posts will have with no extra effort on your part.

So a couple of hours a day is all that is needed to promote your business.

I have been looking for some time for a forum in the Philippines to build business contacts and gather information and came across

Alexa ranking116,472 ,and I thought great ranking site, a good place to hang out and share my experience. The only problem and it effects many forums is that people do not read or fail to understand the forum rules, and post a whole lot of rubbish.

A forum is generally a place for discussion not for advertising your business, except in places set aside for such activity

I have drawn the moderators attention to a couple of issues and hopefully some of the posts will be removed, which will greatly improve the forum.

One of the problems in the Philippines at least where I live in the south is lack of money, temporary office workers for local government receive around 5,000 peso a month and may spend 2,000 on accommodation which does not leave much to live, let alone to put some aside to start a business, so it is no wonder they bite at anything that is free. My own business services cost the equivalent of 2,300 peso a month and are aimed at small business owners or even people providing virtual office services, which is actually something that many people in the Philippines provide.

TV in the Philippines generally is based on American style programs and it is rare to find a service which offers programs from the BBC let alone sport such as Rugby, although now the Philippines are taking up Rugby sevens and Rugby league perhaps there will be more coverage, otherwise you have to put up with Baseball, Basketball, Snooker and of course football.

TV reception is often interrupted by bad weather, tropical rainstorms and high winds, so I have been looking for alternatives. now I did come across one piece of software which allowed viewing of TV programs from around the world, but this only offered recorded programs ,so was something of a rip off, however last week I found a company which offered UK TV programs from the BBC and ITV.

I subscribed to the program and found it seemed to work well over my broadband connection, having been a fan of Doctor Who since it was first introduced many years ago I was pleased to see it was still running and was able to watch one of the latest episodes. I also caught up on UK breakfast time news and a rugby game. All in all I was quite impressed. I did suffer a little spooling delay when watching the rugby game but that was because my partner was also downloading something from the Internet at the same time.

So if there are any Expats out there missing out of programs from home they should check out Expats Telly I recommend it

I can hardly wait for for the weekend to arrive in order to evaluate my new business dashboard, it is something that many people dream about owning.

Anyone who has been advertising their business online for a number of years will probably have collected or used many different programs and pieces of software to develop their business. The problem is they are not designed to work together. You might have built a site on Wordpress, hosted at Godaddy with an auto responder from Aweber and a conference room from goto meeting. You have made sales videos at You Tube and keep in touch with your friends, via Facebook, Twitter and Skype. Does this sound familiar.

Regional advertising as the name suggest focuses on local adverting corresponding to a particular region or place. This involves the use of all the basic tactics and techniques used for any sort of successful advertising campaign for the promotion of a particular company's services or products. Regional advertising is often overlooked but can be a lucrative form of advertising.

The techniques involved in the regional advertising is often focussed on a smaller and regional search engines and also local directories which makes a good business sense.

The listings in the web directories and the search engines under the regional category for example with the websites like the DMOZ.com and yahoo brings about the site under more relevant search results.

Regional means within the country and therefore it is vital to use a domain which is based in that specific company in use. For example co.UK is used for United Kingdom just as .ca is used for Canada. These are often used in the domain names also so as to be able to target the multiple regional markets and also search engines.

There is also the question as to what language should be used, whilst English will usually prevail some people prefer to read items online in their native language, so I would suggest sites be written in duel language.

Today I attended a webinar hosted by Veretekk's marketing Director Butch Hamilton and he was talking about examining where your target market is situated. Many people make the mistake of advertising globally when they are only offering goods and services locally.

I remember some years ago working with a company that started a GoLocal advertising campaign which turned out to be highly successful as each distributor targeted their own particular area rather than nationally or globally.

Google technology brought local search to the forefront in the past year so you can set now set your search default to any particular town to obtain results which are more likely to be of use to you.

If you are operating a local business online it can be beneficial to include the name not only as a title but also in the name of the website. I have done this myself successfully in the past when selling property with a site called apartmentforsalekotakinabalu. A daily advertising campaign was set up on the Internet using my marketing tools and within two months I had completed the sale of my property.

When you are setting out your next advertising campaign consider your local options you might be surprised by the results.
