I have been hanging around a popular online forum and everyday people are asking the same old questions, how to build backlinks to websites.

Backlinks are a measure of a sites importance, the more links coming into your website from other websites the better, provided that the incoming links are correctly tagged with your keywords.

So how do we get backlinks you may ask. there are a number of ways such as buying links, link swaps etc but in my opinion the best way is to build them yourself. I build a minimum of three links every day using classified ads and webpages, in addition to links from blogs.

The first system I use is 1-Family Classifieds, which is one of the oldest classified sites on the Internet, it has an Alexa ranking of 80,000 or 30,000 in the US so information posted hear is picked up by search engine spiders.

I also use Free Page to build a one page website, no special skills are required, it just a matter of filling in a template and the web site has an Alexa ranking of 50,000 in the USA so once again it is popular.

Normally the content that I place in these sites is information about the products and services I sell, note I said information, because that is what people are looking for. Do not try to hard sell with figures, graphs and the like. Provide information that adds value to your product, remembering of course to link back to your business with your specified keyword phrase.

Remember that your same keyword phrase needs to be prominent on the page that you link back to. I does not get much simpler than this and over.

To get fast rack results I recommend building 500 single webpages and 1,000 classified ads for any new website as fast as possible.

When you are starting out marketing your business and building a list of potential customers and subscribers you need an auto responders to keep in touch with them.

You will need to build a set or sets of letters about your services and products and I strongly suggest that the contents of these letter contain information rather than a sales pitch. These letters can be personalised and then sent out over a period of days or weeks.

Your Autoresponder will become your friend as every letter that goes out includes an unsubscribe or script suppression button, to be used by people who no longer want to receive your messages. this helps protest you from Spam complaints.

Your auto responder will also enable you to place subscription boxes on your website to automatically collect leads who wish to read your news letters.

List building

I saw a post recently on a forum from someone who had purchased a list and could not work out why he had not got any sales after three weeks. This is a common problem, the facts are that if you purchase a list you will rarely make a profit, because the leads that you purchase are not fresh and have been probably sold to multiple customers, so when you approach them they are not interested. If you telephone them they can often be abusive.

The sad fact is that that the Internet is not rapid money making machine, it takes time sometimes months or even years to market your business.

A better way is to created a lead capture page, to capture their email and telephone number so you can start communicating with your lead by email and/or phone and building some form of relationship with them, soft selling, find out what their needs are. Just pointing them to an affiliate site rarely works.

A common mistake is to keep sending out the same message if you do you will find that either they unsubscribe or block your emails. I have some subscribers who I em ailed for over a year until they took the plunge when the time way right for them.

You can use an autoresponder to market your business and send out emails space the first few a day or two apart then then extend the gap to weeks or months that way it will not seem you are bugging them.

It seems a strange question to ask, as it depends on what kind of person you are. you see to be successful in SEO you need to become dedicated to success and prepared to put in the time and learn what will produce good results.

Far too many people think its just a matter of putting links or comments on blogs, forums etc. This is just a waste of time and the reason why most people fail.

Before you commence an SEO campaign you need to do some detailed market research to find a niche where there is an opportunity to earn money. Now it greatly helps if your are interested and knowledgeable about your niche, because you will be providing potential customers with information which will hopefully lead to sales, if you do things right.

The next step is to research possible keywords and keyword phrases using online resources such as Alexa, Google to analyse successful sites in your chosen niche Once you have your keywords you need to buy a domain with a name that includes you main keyword phrase and start building and information rich page.

Now most successful sites are those which have a stream of updated information and one way of achieving this is via an RSS feed from a blog, so I always suggest building a blog to which you need to post new information about your niche on a daily basis, which is why it is good to work on a niche which interests you.

In addition to writing a daily blog you need to write classified ads and build addition single page websites to backlinks to your main site.

I cannot understand why people make SEO seem so complex, with worrying about keyword density, algorithms, page ranking and the like. If you follow the basis rules as laid down at Google webmaster tools you will be off to a great start. It is good to spend a lot of time ensuring that the content of you main site follows the guidelines. Hidden text and small text are no no's.

In order to keep a supply of new updated information coming into you website use an RSS feed from a blog, which also back;inks to information contained within your website.

Backlinks are important but you need to ensure they are correctly tagged with a keyword that will provide more detailed information for someone following the link, be it a search engine spider or a reader.

Make sure you use all the advertising resources you can find to build backlinks with information from forums, classified adds, blogs and other RSS feeds. Good quality information is the key to success, if you cannot find suitable information to add value to your site produce your own.

When preparing new content avoid selling, provide information and benefits with links to other pages for additional information and prices, a soft sell is the way to go.

Do you Want To Make Money Online?

It may come as a surprise to you that to be successful online you need to treat your business as a business. There is no way to get rich quick despite the thousands of people who advertise that you can be earning $ thousands within a few weeks.

Working online is no different to working offline, you get paid for the work you put in and it will take 3- 5 years before you will be earning substantial money. The most important step is choosing a good business, what you are looking for is an established opportunity that has been around for about ten years, so that mean forget about all the pre launch specials which offer you the world and end up giving you nothing, they are no more than a lottery.

You will need to put time and effort into your business and like any business you will need to have money to get going, yes there are free opportunities, but you get nothing for free in this world, that is a fact of life.

What ever business you choose you will need to learn everything you can about it and how it works, and if you are joining an affiliate business make sure that you join under someone who is willing and able to help you, not someone who is just after your money.

I know you would all like to get a six figure income from working online, and yes you can, it will take between 5-10 years of work. If you have a normal job would you expect to be earning a six figure income in less than that time working full time? The answer of course is no, so don't get caught up in scams that promise you the earth and leave you empty handed.

A common mistake is to jump from one business opportunity to another and this can be disastrous because you will once again have to start at the bottom, it is far worse than a traditional job were generally your salary and conditions will increase when you change jobs. I was lucky to work for the same company for over 25 years and as a result retired with no debt and enough money to live on and am now building a second income.

The other thing you need to do with a home business is to continue to reinvest in yourself, learn more about the business, you can also build additional streams of income but make sure they are compatible and fit together in you life plan.

I have worked online for over ten years trying many ways of earning money and it is only in the last three years that I have started to earn an online income because I have discovered what I am good at. Along the way I have learnt many things, one of which is that for the first couple of years monthly income will be small and there is a temptation to question if you will ever make real money, but I now know that if you persevere you will.

One Interesting point I learnt this week is that 1 in 30 people you introduce into a business will understand the business and build a successful business of their own. So forget the idea of only finding 3-4 people, you need to raise your sights much higher.

Today was a good start to the week, as I looked at the back office of my business and discovered that as a result of sending out a few real cards last week to customers who had not ordered products from me recently, I had two new orders.

There are many ways of keeping in contact with customers, with email being the most common method, however with spam filters and the way that many people often change email addresses this is beginning to lose popularity.

The telephone is a good method but here again the widespread use of phone diallers has resulted in many people switching phones to voicemail, so it can be difficult to make contact, added to which phones are often cut-off, or false numbers provided on forms.

The main point in sending out real cards to customers is you know their address is real as you have delivered products to them and people do not often move house.

I actually get pleasure in picking out real cards to send from my computer and with over 12,000 choices it will be a long time before I run out of ideas.
