The Olympics has somewhat taken over my life at the moment, as a former athlete I know what it takes to get to the top of your sport, years of training, hard work and chasing down goals. One important aspect of any successfully business is having a system or systems that can be followed, if you look for example at MacDonalds, when you start a Franchise business, everything is laid out for you, your logo's, look and feel of your outlet, your menus, your stock, advertising, accounting. All you have to is follow the system and within a few year you will be in profit. Online businesses usually have systems as well, with a sponsor providing guidance, because they usually get some form of commissions from introducing you. The problem is all to many sponsors do not take the time to learn the business systems, so they can help others, they are only interested in getting signup's. If the business systems are not good this will often result in new recruits dropping out.

Before you market a business online you need to have a good knowledge of what it is you are selling and how it works, that why successful companies run training webinars. I continue to go to webinars and present my own, as there are always changes going on in the marketing world, and you need to be continuously informed.

One of the challenges at the moment is a worldwide shortage of money and lack of job security, so many people are seeking ways to earn an income online, and they need to get a quick return on any investment they make. Now there are systems for doing this , but many of them can be high risk, so you need to take care and check out the underlying systems.

The ideal business should be like a Franchise, a system that works, but that can produce a profit in a matter of weeks rather than years, so let me know when you find one.

Yesterday I attended a webinar from T. Harv Eker, about the changing face of business as it seems that you need to choose carefully what you do, and aim to make money in five years and then sell and move on. This is a completely new mindset for me as I have looked to taking up to 3 years to make a profit, whereas the trend now is to return a profit within the first year.

One important aspect is the need to fully understand the business and opportunity you are going to promote and advertise, you can no longer rely on copy and pasting company provided sales pages to do your online selling you have to write your own advertising copy.

Many people do not know where to start, if you ask them to write about their business, so I generally recommend they start by writing about themselves and why they became involved with the business they are promoting. Having introduced themselves with one or two posts, they then need to start writing about the products and services they are providing.

One way to do this is to take the stock sales page and then rewrite it taking out the hype and buy now pitches and just supply one link in the signature area. As knowledge of their business grows they can expand into other areas, like providing answers to some common questions or features of their products.

You need to put yourself in the place of a potential customer what kind of questions do they have, what goes into products, what are the main features of your service, how does using the product or service benefit your customers.

I continue to be amazed that people join opportunities, social groups, websites etc and then do nothing. I even wonder why most of them even bother to fill in the forms to sign up.

Perhaps one of the reasons is that some sites do not provide enough information about their product or service until they have captured your details, so that you can be added to an autoresponder which will pummel you into submission until you either take action or unsubscribe yourself.

One of my main businesses is the provision of a suite of marketing tools that costs $54.95 per month which includes everything you need to successfully market your business on the Internet, however people still sign up and do nothing, despite the fact that I include step my step instructions ,both in written and short video clips on what they need to do. I do not know what it is about Internet marketing but the same questions are repeated time and time again in various forums about items such as back linking and no matter what answers are given, the question is raised again and again.

I have come to the conclusion that very few people are interested in the answers, perhaps they post to the forums to get backlinks.

When someone asks me for help in marketing their business I usually start with a test project. I discuss with them how they are marketing, what kind of keywords they are targeting and then show them two tools which I use every day a classified site and a simple web page builder. I then ask them to create 1,000 classified ads and 500 single webpages to promote their business

The creative writing project needs to be completed for the following reasons.

• To learn how to build backlinks
• To learn creative writing for the Internet techniques
• To prove to me they can follow instructions and are prepared to put in the time and effort to market their business
• to get into the habit of being able to write blog posts on a regular basis.

Some people are gifted and able to write thousands of words on a subject, but most can't. I for one like normally like to write as few words as possible, but this approach does not work when you are writing for the Internet. Few people will read your beautiful crafted classified ad, so do not try selling or use pictures, what you need to do is provide information in answer to what people are searching for. Now search engine spiders are avid readers and will follow all your links seeking more information, the better the quality of the content, the more often they will return and the higher your site will rank.

One method I use is to precis an article or document, rewriting it in my own words, some people use spinning software to rewrite information but I prefer to avoid this as you tend not to read the article so you are not learning yourself. As time passes you will often discover that a news or article headline will be just the thing that will spark your creative writing for your next blog.

Once again this week a tropical storm has been hanging around the Philippines, with the result that there tends to be heavy rain in the evenings, just when I settle down to catch up on the latest news on TV.

The satellite systems sold here have far to small a dish to receive a good signal when it rains and it is something that the providers need to address, it also effects cable suppliers in the provinces as well as virtually all content is bounced of satellite at some point apart from local channels.
I have subscribed to Expat TV which allow me to watch programs from the UK on my computer and I starting to think that I might ditch my satellite, as the Internet is not effected by the weather, unless of course the power or phone lines are damaged by falling trees.

Last week I had a meeting with the local electricity supplier and they agreed to take up my complaint about how they calculated my deposit with their Board. A number of other items were discussed, including their website which is still under construction, as they have a vacancy. I made a suggestion that is they removed links from the site to pages which were not complete, visitors would have a better browsing experience.

For some time now I have been searching for ways for people to be able to improve life in the Philippines, and yesterday when out for a visit to the beach we stopped off at a restaurant in Dapitan city, where a business presentation was being held. Some time ago I researched information about Dipolog City and found sites for both the region Zanorte and the City itself, however the information on the sites had not been kept up to date and one site was missing altogether, perhaps it is been revised. I am still puzzled on how to market my business in the Philippines. as I see it there are two challenges, one lack of money and two the population is relatively young. Internet cafe's are popular, but used mostly for playing games. Yahoo is used extensive here with many businesses having a yahoo email address, this is somewhat surprising as I find Yahoo tends to corrupt my computer, so I avoid using it.

I use a local business forum to engage with locals working online but it is difficult to have any meaningful discussion. I have noticed that the majority of advertising provides little information about what is being sold and rarely links to a website. The seller either requesting a PM or an email for further details. People do seem to read entries in the forum judging by the emails requesting more information, and this is perhaps something that I can use to my advantage for marketing my business.

I was asked a question the other day if I had an opportunity or business which could earn someone $300 this week. Now I have always had issues with the thousands of emails promising this kind of result, because the business I promote take time to develop.

The problem is that there are quite a few desperate people out there who need to earn money quickly. This got me thinking and we discussed the matter for a couple of hours, often ending up back at my first answer. I tend only to market business opportunities which earn money in the long term. We discussed many subject from web hosting and selling domain names to real estate and Forex and at different time I had tried most. Some had promising starts only to turn out to be scams. The most successful was Forex trading which I ran for a year and made some good money only to lose it due to poor Internet connections and power outages at critical times.

The discussion on Forex actually prompted me to take a look at a Forex business in pre-launch which I joined at the end of last week and to my surprise it appears to be making money with potential bonus of $500 and earning of $60 per month, perhaps this is something which will fit the bill in future, only time will tell.

Everyday you will come across a new business opportunity that maybe strikes a cord, such as Forex trading which can be a lucrative way to earn money, I found one only yesterday in pre launch and am already earning money from it. However there is more to marketing your business that simply sharing a URL. You need to know what it is you are selling, so that if people have questions you have the knowledge to answer them. Communication is one of the key to success.

There are many way of marketing your business such as phoning, emailing, using traffic exchanges and blogging to name a few. Most opportunities will also provide some basic advise on how to get started and even provide some sample copy to get going. Notice I said "get you going", you need to take action and to learn to develop your own advertising copy to put you unique stamp on what it is you are selling. Just posting the same message every day will not work.

So where do you get new content, well you can get some from the company, product or service you are promoting. the rest you will get from searching the Internet. You are looking for content which will interest your customers and explain more about what you are selling.

Do not just copy and paste information, if you find an article that interest you, rewrite it in you own words expanding or contracting as necessary to make the content your own. When you have written a few hundred articles on a particular subject you will often find you own creative juices begin to flow just by reading a snippet of information.

Some people are better at talking than writing, in which case they can write about what they are talking about. The more you write and talk about your business, the more knowledge you will gain and this will improve the marketing of you business.

Now all businesses like to have their websites showing on the page one of Google, and many do this by bidding on keywords for Pay Per Click (PPC) or paid adverting, which can produce quick results but is also quite costly, the alternative is to build backlinks to a site, each of which contains the keyword where the site is to appear in search engine results and also must have some content about the keyword link.

Building backlinks for marketing your business can take a lot of time and effort and this is where co-operative marketing comes in. One form of co-operative marketing is to exchange links with another business owner, however this is not recommended as the best links are one way links and you need to ensure that your keyword is in the link text.

What you really want to do is form a co-operative marketing group where you agree to add an advertisement for someone else to the content of your normal marketing your business campaign for a period of time. Now you could charge people a fee for this or else agree that each member of the marketing group will have a turn in providing an advert. Some people are averse to this idea of advertising, but one only has to look at News papers and magazines all of which carry adverts, which actually increase readers experience. In the case of the Internet one has to remember that these links will also be spread across the members social groups in a viral fashion, helping to build thousands of backlinks.

Is it easy to market your business

Marketing you business is not easy and that is why large and medium size companies hire advertising agencies to the the work for them, but a small business owner cannot afford to do this and so has to do the marketing and advertising themselves.

If you have been around a bit you will have run across comment marketing, and it often abused because the ill-informed try to build links to their own sites, by placing comments and links on other peoples blogs and forums, which have absolutely nothing what ever to do with what they are selling. In fact for this reason in recent Google algorithm changes some popular sites lost ranking positions due to poor quality links. I personally do not allow any comments on my blogs, because I am not prepared for other people to benefit from my hard work.

Well placed and constructed backlinks are what is needed when marketing your business. The best backlink is one that contains a keyword or phrase that appears on both sites, but all backlinks need to link to a site which contains more information about that particular link text. You can place a backlink in a signature box of a blog or forum post and they work best if the content you are writing about is relevant to the link.

I have a question for you today, do you market your business everyday? Now some of you will say yes, I send out my email message to my lists everyday, well that is great but I hope not exactly the same boring message. you customers or potential customers are not interested in what you say you are earning what they want to know is more about how your products and services will help them, so you need to drop the sales pitch and provide useful contents.

I write about 300-500 words about marketing your business every day 24/7/365, if I do not write something I fell guilty. The article I write I then use multiple times, sending it to blogs, forums, websites, social sites such as Google+, LinkedIn and Facebook. Now some people will say who that is duplicate content, but the answer is no because every site is slightly different. I also use classified ads and free webpages and all of these posts build backlinks to my business.

Google and other search engines reward you for supplying new content and relevant keyword specific links to your site by ranking your sites in the keywords of your choice which I covered in my earlier posts.

Depending upon my thought processes, I can usually complete this part of marketing my business in about an hour and then I can set about answering emails and contacting leads developed by my marketing system

Using Metatags to market your business, now some so called experts suggest that you not longer need to use metatags when marketing online, but I know for a fact that is always improves your results, so what are meta tags,they are coding placed in the header of a web page or document which provide information for a search engine spider to use when indexing a page. some common tags are shown below

The description that we type in will be what appears in search results and need to include your main keyword, if you fail to enter a description the search engine will gather some information from you site which might not be relevant to the content.

The body of the website needs to contain good content that expands on the title and keywords, which will involve quite a lot on writing. When writing content is should flow naturally without repeating keywords to many times.

Yesterdays blog was about selecting keywords and today we are going to the next stage and going to use the Alexa.com site to further examine keywords relating to Philippine travel. now you will need to use the advance search features and set country to Philippines.

Now here is a keyword tip use the singular term Philippine to get the most results and it also contains the plural Philippines, so entering Philippine travel, and looking below the advertisers we see a number of general sites such as Google, Wikia, etc which we ignore but on page two come across with a rank of 735,000 Filipino Travel Center with a rank of 735,000, which is interesting as its below the 1,000,000 which is where we want our site to rank. go to the site and look at the search characteristics and you will notice that Cebu Pacific the local airline tops the search traffic, this could also be a good keyword for your site as your potential customers are likely to use the airline.

Take a look also at the sites linking in, you might want to consider linking to some of these sites yourself such as backpackers.com.tw and scubaboard.com. You are probably starting to realise now that marketing and keyword research is a much bigger subject, than just grabbing a keyword out of thin air. Keyword research can take weeks or months but is time well spent to ensure that you will build a site that will become popular.

There are many steps one needs to take to to market an online business, the first of which is to identifying you target customers. One way of doing this is to use Google tools such as the Adwords keyword selector, Google and Alexa search. you have to put yourself in the position of a potential customer, what words are they likely to enter into a search engine and find your site.

They may for example enter your company name if they know it, but it is more likely they will use some other phrase, let us suppose your are a travel company in the Philippines offering tours to inbound tourists perhaps you might start with the words Philippine travel.

The Google keyword tool will then produce a listing of keywords related to Philippine travel such as Philippine travel tours, Philippine travel guide, together with a listing of expected monthly search and how competitive the keyword is, i.e. how difficult it might be to get to page one of search results.

Once you have say half a dozen options, then go to the second stage and enter each in to Google and make a note of the number of PPC adverts which appear in the results, if there are no adverts it probably means it is not a good keyword to use. you will also see who your competitors are likely to be.

Do the same thing in Alexa and look at the Alexa rankings of your competitors and also what are their popular keyword searches.

By the time you have finished this exercise you will have a good ideas of what keywords you need to have in your site, and then its a matter of testing them out. which I will deal with in my next blog

I really find it hard to understand why it that virtually no new user to Veretekk bothers to setup up their Vereblog. I do not know if it lack of confidence to write or lack of understanding of how a simple action of posting information can build backlinks and promote your business for FREE.

Yes this a FREE resource why do you not use it. When you write your blog post it will appear on you profile, you can even set it up so it is the default page for your profile. Your vereblog will also show up on all your friends pages, building additional backlinks.

You vereblog post can also be sent out to you email contact via a simple click of a few buttons, shared on multiple social sites, with the click of a few buttons and also shared in Veretekk groups, posted to 1st family classifieds and made into stand alone web sites using Freepage. you Simple FREE blog post can turn viral and be read by hundreds if not thousands of peoples building backlinks to your profile and business for FREE.

I actually hate promoting Free things, due to all the freeloaders who are never prepared to spend money and just waste people time but this simple tool and action of posting every day will get you results.

Ok now you know who will see it, what are you going to write about. Start with writing about yourself or something that interests you, it can be anything, travel, sport, life experience, business, product reviews, health tips, but please NO SELLING

Attach a signature file to the end of each post to sites you want to promote and that is where what I call the silent selling is done, if people like what you are writing about they will follow the links. The Vereblog attracts search engine spiders to what I call this spider food of content and will also follow these links for more information.

The first task is for you to take action and start writing as you gain confidence you will start to modify what you write about to provide answers for people that are searching for information.

You will not get any results if you do not take action, so come on pull your finger out and get going if you want success. Still cant get going, then Write a post giving reasons why you cannot follow this simple idea. Or perhaps you prefer to pay me $50 a day and I will do it for you:)
